The Battle of New Georgia - Vic`s ship, the Sea Witch, arrived in Noumea, New Caledonia on July 28th. At that time, U.S., Australian and New Zealand forces were in the midst of this battle, which had begun on June the 20th. New Georgia was the largest of the Solomon Islands - and the Japanese had an important air base here. The U.S. attacked with the 37th Infantry Division, and Vic was now one of its soldiers.
